I've been using it for a few years mainly for short trips and haven't had any problems with the bag tearing. I would like to point out that it is not waterproof and only has a low level of water resistance. The outer pockets get wet particularly easily. I've used an ultralight nylon backpack in the past and this didn't offer enough structure and comfort. It also broke pretty quickly. I also don't want full size backpacks for camping. This is a good bag between fashionable and durable backpacks. It can hold quite a lot and I love the deep side pockets. I can comfortably fit a 22 ounce bottle and a compact umbrella on each side. It has a back pocket for personal/purses. Plenty of inside and outside pockets, but no frills. The two features I would have liked were a luggage strap and a true waterproof fabric. Otherwise it's a very good backpack for the price. The zippers are very smooth, there are no problems with the seams. If you're packing a lot of heavy stuff, the straps will tire, but for a medium load, they're wide and smooth.
