I have a six year old Maltese-Terrier rescue who is overweight and has never enjoyed going for walks. In the past two years he has gone from 17 pounds (acceptable to his vet) to 29 pounds in weight (unacceptable). In desperation, I purchased Dr. Barbara Royal's book, "The Royal Treatment" and she recommends a raw food diet. There are acceptable substitutions on her website if one is not ready/willing to switch. This canned dog food is one of her recommendations. I mixed a tablespoon of it with his dry Call of the Wild beef food, and he gobbled it all right up! I am sooooo pleased! I'm hoping that a better diet (rather than being Purina treat based) will give him more energy and encourage him to take the longer walks together that we used to do.
