Update January 7, 2020 - Seller is replacing defective SH8830 unit. It took a bit of negotiation, but I couldn't be happier. The biggest positive feature of the SH8830 is that water is poured from the top. I also bought an Air-o-Swiss 7044 so I can have something until the SH8830 is fixed or replaced. Compared to Air-o-Swiss, Elechomes do make more noise when operating (not a big deal), but Air-o-Swiss has to be turned upside down to fill. The procedure for filling the bottom is a little more complicated and a little messier. Both devices work well in my two story house. I recommend SH8830. Old complaint, no longer relevant: I had high hopes for the Elehomes SH8830 after my first two uses. Now this is useless as I lost the little plastic spacer that used to go around the perimeter of the base and was supposed to be less than $1. Water pours out the back of the unit almost as fast as I can pour it. The seller could not find or replace this part even after 3 weeks of negotiations. If you buy this humidifier, you won't miss anything.
