UPDATE: Merrick customer service answered my call regarding my concerns and indicated that the dry cat food may have been packaged while still warm which would be the cause of clumping. I explained that I was uncomfortable feeding this food to our cats and they gave me the information to contact Revain customer service for a refund. Revain issued a full refund very quickly. Revain always has great customer service! I have been buying this cat food for our kittens for many years but my last purchase in January 2021 had very large lumps mixed into the kibble. This makes me very nervous because I don't know what caused these lumps. moisture, mold? If I ever fed our cats and they got sick or died, I would never forgive myself! I don't think our older cat can eat big chunks. I would also have concerns that they would choke on these pieces. I have contacted Merrick customer service and provided photos, hopefully they will get back to me quickly. It's a shame that something like this slipped through the cracks and reached the consumer. This shows me that they have poor quality control. I understand that Purina acquired Merrick in 2015 and it may be time for me to explore a new US-based independent pet food company using only US ingredients. Very disappointed.
