This toothpaste contains benzyl alcohol, a synthetic preservative that studies have shown may impair the human immune system. It can be oxidized to benzoic acid, which in the presence of vitamin C can be converted to benzene, a known carcinogen. The tissues of the mouth are one of the most commonly absorbed drug delivery systems into the bloodstream. Therefore, using a toothpaste containing such an ingredient twice a day for 12 months a year does not appear to be in the best interest of health. Please investigate!
