This cage was a disaster from start to finish. It arrived cracked and broken in several places but we were able to contact customer service and were given a replacement. This should be a warning sign to me that the problem was plastic. The wheel was a constant problem. Our hamster can push his body out from under the wheel, throw him out of his seat and break out of the cage. It happened twice in the middle of the night. We ended up having to buy a long velcro strap and a velcro wheel. This keeps our hamster from getting off, but he can no longer use the wheel, which is a shame. Just last night our hamster managed to gnaw a hole in the larger wall of the cage and escape again. Luckily we found her all three times when she came out of that cage. She never escaped from the other cage we tied this one to. This cage just doesn't work!
