Arrived folded in box. I just had to pull it out and shape it into a square. They show it as an octagon. I used it over intertwined pieces of styrofoam. They are perfect for each other. I wish the two joined sections would have made the gate lighter but I'm still very happy with this purchase. We climb over to enter, which can be daunting for someone who is small or physically challenged. I find it sturdy and after a month I wasn't worried about it breaking or getting sharp on the edges. Folding back the sections requires some "force" while you might think it's going to break, but it doesn't. In general, we like it, and my grandson can play. Otherwise, we cannot take our eyes off it, and we find it difficult to do things or sit down and relax. We have an open floor plan so it fits into our main living area. I liked that no tools were needed to mount it on the wall. We see him play and he knows we're around, but we don't have to watch him every second to know he's safe. If you have space and a mobile child or toddler, rest easy. All are happy.
