I use them as tampons and they work really well! Since I have a copper IUD, my discharge is usually copious and I was afraid of leaking. I was also concerned about flushing them in public if need be. I'm glad none of that was a problem. If I'm having a very busy day, I can double the amount of sponges for a little more durability. And as for "public flushing" lol, there are multiple solutions. One of them, of course, is to take a bottle of water to the toilet stall. Another trick is to bring a clean plastic bag and a spare sponge (you put the used sponge in the bag and replace it with a new one, then just rinse it out). Finally, there's always the "wait until everyone's out of the bathroom" method, lol. It really doesn't matter that much :)
