Lots of cores, high clock - not only for gaming

[Update] The laptop has a free memory slot, so I added a second 8G memory card. It was fast, easy, cheap, and now I have a 16G RAM system. [Original review] I was looking for a computer with some appeal and reasonable specs from a brand I've had good luck with in the past. This Lenovo Ideapad seemed to fit the bill. I was surprised to find SSD mounting hardware in the box. I hope this means that opening the back doesn't void the warranty. I decided to use hardware to add 1T SSD. I tried prying the case open with a screwdriver but did little damage. So I bought a phone/pc repair tool kit and was able to get my pc working again without any problems. I've attached a photo of the inside. Adding a drive was easy. All necessary cables and fasteners were included. The only surprise was that I had to loosen the mounting screw (see picture). After that I just swapped the back and after a reboot went through the normal disk creation/mount process. I ordered a PC for a specific purpose. I wanted something with decent processing power. The supplied processor is powerful enough for my purposes. The only thing I would have preferred was 16GB of storage instead of 8GB. It also came with McAfee which I removed immediately. Also, there was almost no malware inside. The computer itself makes a robust impression. Has a plastic body. I usually prefer metal cases but this one seems solid enough. It has a nice backlit keyboard. The keyboard has a standard keyboard and a number pad. I've been using small laptops for so long I've forgotten how nice it is to have a full keyboard. Needing a computer with some pizzazz, I went with this cheap gaming rig. I'm sure my son, a serious gamer, won't like it. But it's the right price, good size, and enough power for my needs.
