As suggested, I tried setting up a remote hub near my AT&T router but couldn't set it up in the Smart Life app. After several unsuccessful attempts, I moved as far away from the router as possible and then setup was relatively easy. The hub connects on 2.4GHz, and as you move away from the router, the 5GHz band gets weaker, making it easier to connect to the 2.4GHz band. The remote control for the old Sony TV was easy to set up, but so was the older JVC CD audio system. needed a home made remote that was easy to set up using the original remote, MoesGO WI-Fi IR hub and the Simple Life app. I have been using the Logitech Harmony remote and hubs for several years and despite my best efforts I have not been able to learn the remote or hubs to learn the codes for the JVC audio system. I definitely recommend the MoesGo Wi-Fi IR Hub for its excellent DIY code learning.
