Changed the cartridge and couldn't get a good copy. My copy had blank lines because of the black cartridge. Did all sorts of repairs. Eventually I called Epson and they told me the cartridge was bad and I shouldn't use any other brand of cartridges. I called them again and they told me to clean my head three times in a row. This solved the problem, although the copies aren't as sharp as I'd like.
