As someone who has had other heating pads thrown in the water (lurid experience) when my turtle splashed them, I appreciate the peace of mind I get when using a heating pad with protection from splashes. . I've seen those bulbs splatter and I haven't had a single break. I have used these splash proof heat lamps on all my turtles for years and they are well worth it. They also burn out for a long time (usually more than a year). I've bought bad lots several times that have blown after a few months, but customer service has always been very helpful and quick to send free replacements. I highly recommend them.
