Having owned this cage for 3 months I have to say it is very problematic. First, it was very difficult to assemble. I needed a man to hold the parts in place and screwing is not easy. My arm hurt a lot when it was all over. Second, it can't be used without a wire base, which is really bad for little rat's feet, so I have to cut out cardboard sheets to cover the wire, and then put a pad on top. Cleaning is a big pain. Even if you didn't line it with cardboard, you'd still have to put a bedding on top, and it's not easy to pull the wire out from underneath without spilling the bedding all over the place, even with a plastic tray underneath. You can't change them either. I did my best. And if you try to use a cage with only a plastic bowl, there will be too much space and the rats will be able to escape. So to clean it I basically have to manually pull out the bedding and then pull out the box and it still leaves the bedding and poop that fell underneath. The work, which should last a maximum of 20 minutes, takes about an hour a week. I buy another cage because I can't take it anymore. I recommend the variant with a pull-out tray. I had this 10 years ago when I had rats and this time I had to get it again. Learn from my mistake.
