I fitted this chin strap to my hat on 10th January 2020 after waiting for delivery on 28th December 2019. The idea is to insert the split pins into the hat band, bend the split pins and hold the band in place. But in my opinion the cotter pins are too thick. If your hat is initially tight, these pins will feel like bulges in a sweatband. Very uncomfortable. My solution is to use a much thinner wire instead of the thick cotter pins that come with the belt. And why is the strap so long? Length about 24 inches. In my opinion the strap could be much shorter. Okay, maybe it's the style. In any case, I will use thinner wire instead of thick cotter pins so that the hat on my head doesn't bother me. too tight. The band is elegant and beautifully made even if it took a while. Now I have to replace those fat cotter pins and the band will actually work just fine.
