I've tried several different phone holders (vent/suction cup/cup holder) and none of them worked for me. I like the idea of this product being centered on the windshield without interfering with the view and the pendulum's ability to move it left to right when attached to the mirror BUT the only problem I had was, that if you have a heavy phone or even a phone with a heavy case, the phone holder will shake because it is attached to the rear view mirror, so the mirror will shake and bounce while driving. At night or early in the morning, all you see is headlights reflected in your rear-view mirror. During the day, it distracts from driving just as much as any bump or bump in the road causes the rear-view mirror to shake. If you have a light/small phone it might not wobble/jump as much, but based on my experience I don't think I'll like it.
