I love this dog seat. My dog is 70 pounds and probably won't fit in this thing. When she curls up, she may fit snugly, but she often tilts her head to one side or stays seated while driving. Bought this for my dog after realizing he mimics doggy when driving in the car which is obviously not safe. Even with minor accidents and accidents, sloth can push people back, so it can definitely push a much smaller dog back. I'm in a situation right now where I spend about 16 hours 4 to 6 times a year so I wanted something to reassure me even if it wasn't a crash test (almost no dog protection products so it's not a knock or anything) . I combine this with the Kurgo car seat belt and drive a lot smoother knowing that if we hit a bump or anything else, both I and my dog will be buckled up. In terms of comfort, I wouldn't say my dog fell in love. with a car seat or something. She'd rather be on my lap in the car than anywhere else, but she'd also love cheese with every meal - not the most reliable source. I will say that in the chair she is calmer, falls asleep several times and does not strain to keep her balance. It is important to me that this car seat is not a permanent job for you. The seat is high and my dog has long legs (for a french bulldog) so he definitely gets a great view when he sits on the seat. I try to leave the car seat in the back seat of my car because I can't manually disable the passenger airbag (for the same reason putting your kids in the back seat, an airbag can do more harm than good in a crash). but it fits perfectly in the front of my 16 jeep wrangler with little to no room if/when needed. I think having a good seat in the front seat helps my dog feel more secure. In terms of quality, the hard plastic of the bed feels really strong and the lining has stood up to LOTS of use well. I removed the pillow because it slipped off and unbalanced my dog. I replaced it with two dog blankets stacked on top of each other and a fluffy dog toy that she can use as a pillow whenever she wants. My biggest concern is that the safety of the bed depends on the safety of my car's seat belt and not some straps that attach to two separate attachment points on the bed itself, like here. Luckily I haven't tested this in any crash other than rough roads. My only complaint would be the fastening process, which can be a bear, pull the seat belt through one side, then through the seat belt bracket, then through the other side, then buckle up, but that makes it secure, so I'm not on it, I disagree actually. A suggestion would be a side pocket to store a leash and some dog bags.
