When this wrench arrived at my office I was surprised when I opened the packaging and saw how compact it was. The head section is much thinner than my thin Tecton 3/8" model and smaller. The only plastic I see is the ring around the head release button. On my dad's 40+ year old wrenches these are metal but no trigger buttons, just a directional switch. Also, I can't tell if the directional switch is metal or plastic. I need to find a magnet to be sure. When I look at the directional lever, it looks like metal but feels like plastic, all the wrenches I see today have plastic directional switches. With this Wilmer brand wrench, the switch operation is firm with no play or wobble unlike others. In terms of fit and feel, this wrench feels good in the hand and is quite compact for getting into those hard-to-reach places, the sound of the head turning sounds accurate, and the overall condition appears to be very high quality, I would buy this item without hesitation.
