Markers do not smell as advertised

These markers are a great colour. However, only three markers actually smell like they should. A banana marker smells nothing, a cherry marker smells faintly of an ashtray, and a blueberry marker almost smells like something rotten. The rest smells amazing. Not sure if I have a bad batch but my kid at work didn't like the markers, he told me they were "bad bad" and put them away.
