What follows is a report just on the noise. Sony uses processing to coax the best sound out of mediocre speakers, whose true worth is revealed when connected via the included wire. To sum it all up, I'd call that last sound "magical" in both senses of the word. It's gorgeous and intricately crafted, yet entirely fake. I'll explain how it stands up against the Audio-Technica ATH-Ad1000. Even with the adjuster set to zero and the extra bass turned down to minus 20 bass, the volume is too high. The strings and the triangle both come through clearly despite the sound's gentleness and muted quality. There isn't really a scene; the individual instruments simply materialize and vanish out of the mist. The tone is sugary, almost ludicrously lovely. Coughing up oil is possible if you go to the loud music setting. In general, they did a fantastic job of "painting" the sound; I was treated to a similar effect by the top-tier Pioneers' branded Legato link conversion, however in that case, the soloist could also move away from and toward the mic.
