This thermometer meets and exceeds my expectations based on previous use of a digital thermometer. I needed a candy thermometer to make homemade caramel and boy this thermometer will surely make caramel making a lot easier and more accurate! The magnetic component allows it to be placed on my fridge for easy access and storage. My previous digital thermometer was slow and difficult to read. This thermometer is fast and accurate, and the LED backlight makes reading easy and convenient! I am more than happy with my purchase and look forward to using this product for all my meat and confectionary needs. PS - If the small black plastic ring in the packaging confuses you, it needs to be inserted into the battery compartment slot. for easy opening and closing.
