I really like this idea, but it's not quite what I expected. What cuts the cake is thin wire that doesn't cut the cake very well. To make the top of the cake even, I had to glue it in the center of the cake (because that was the softest part) instead of cutting from the center. I've never had to work so hard to flatten a cake. Also, it is very difficult to move the wire up and down to the desired height. I'm strong and I had trouble moving the wire. At one point I got so frustrated that he wasn't moving that I thought I was going to break him. Now I'm gifting this to my mom (who doesn't bake a lot of cakes) because I'm coming back with my nice sharp knives that I already have.
