I've been using Smooth X for about a week and have been pleasantly surprised by its capabilities. Right out of the box I was able to take practice shots with it which I wanted to add to this review but Amazon didn't upload them. I like the Bluetooth capabilities when recording and the smoothness of the joystick. My biggest criticism of the Smooth X is the low grip. When I hold it comfortably in my hand, the controls are hidden, which means I have to adjust my grip before I can operate the camera, unless I'm only half-holding the grip. It's not the worst thing in the world, just a little uncomfortable. The Zhiyun app worked well for me, I have an iPhone XR, and it gives me additional control over exposure and shutter speed. Of course, it's still a phone, so you'll need to record video in the right lighting. It also has a bunch of video templates (like the iMovie trailer templates) that I doubt I'll use, but are nice to have. I've had other phone gimbals in the same price range that felt cheap or had a terrible app UI, but this one really stands out for me. Overall, I was actually very happy for the price!
