Review on πŸ’‘ Furman SS-6B-PRO Surge Strip with Advanced Voltage Protection by Roger King

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Heavy, solid metal, all high quality and NO hum and hum! You can put your ear on it.

I was looking for a new power strip with surge and under voltage protection after realizing that most surge protectors only protect against surges. I previously bought a Tripp Lite extension cord because of all the rave 5 star reviews and at first didn't trust my intuition for an upgraded model of my existing Furman SS-6B. I notice very small details that most people probably overlook and immediately noticed a faint buzz coming from the new Tripp-Lite I just bought! I didn't notice, but my old Furman SS-6B didn't hum at all. I think it's okay to sell buzzing electronics without most customers realizing it. After sending the Tripp Lite strip back, I followed my intuition and bought this Furman SS-6B-PRO, plugged everything in and turned it on. . I put my ear right to it, about an inch from it, and... There wasn't a single sound! No buzz, no click, no hum, just what I wanted. No signs of cheap manufacturing on the plugs, metal body, or chunky 14AWG power cord. This thing is HEAVY, weighing 4 pounds. If you want REAL silence, like critical silence when listening to audiophiles, rather than "mostly quiet, good enough for me, sports drowns it out anyway," then this is the surge protector you're looking for. No compromises, just a quiet all-metal line filter. Isn't that what we all really want?

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
