Nice on paper, bad in real life.

I have 1 Gbit/s fiber optic internet. That barely gets me to 50. I can see the speed of the fiber but I'm not sending it. I know I'm not going crazy with 1 gigabyte over Wi-Fi, but I'm not even getting half of it. I restarted my computer and the same problem. I have about 3 things connected to it and it is slow.
