The green light in the plug indicating that the base is powered stays on. But at the base we only get a red light or no light at all. The blue light indicating charging is gone. We've changed the power cord many times and the retractable side arms still work, but the base no longer charges the phone. I downgraded it from 5 to 2 stars because of the price and short lifespan. The replacement device arrived yesterday and works perfectly. The rating has been changed to 4 stars. When my boyfriend and I bought new phones this fall, I decided to upgrade our car charger to a Qi charger. We liked our previous charger (CD slot) so this seemed like a good choice. Reviews of some other models have reported falling out of the CD slot, but no one has complained about this when purchasing this charger. With its position after installation (it blocked our radio volume knob), you can flip it upside down and try the other way. The stand rotates 360 degrees. If the vibrations are too strong and you feel your phone bouncing up and down, you need to tighten the locking screw. The bottom of the stand emits blue light when the phone is charging. As for us, I am happy to report that after 6 weeks of almost daily use we are very happy with it. It fits both his huge Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus and my slightly smaller iPhone 11 Pro without having to reposition the bottom charging stand for either phone. We had to lower it 2 levels from its original position to make it work on his phone. The side arms close automatically to keep any phone safe and sound, but also have buttons on either side to open and close them. We installed it in our BMW X1 and it took a lot of effort to make it strong but when it was done it was rock solid. We had a crash a few weeks ago when my iPhone stopped charging and repositioning the bottom stand didn't help. I found that turning the phone off and on again solved the problem and there was no recurrence. We highly recommend this charger.
