Ideal for accent or decorative lighting!

I received a multi-color RGB LED strip in exchange for this honest product review. I love LEDs so I was happy to check out this strip with interchangeable colors. I already had the idea of using them for accent lighting in our playroom. Build Quality and Build Quality: These RGB (Red, Green, Blue) 5050 (Light Emitting Diodes) SMD LEDs are placed on a white backed flexible circuit board and then encapsulated in a transparent silicone material. This makes them very durable and waterproof up to a protection class of IP-65. They come with proprietary 3M adhesive so you know they'll stay where you put them. A LED strip is also marked between every three LEDs showing where you can cut them to get the length you want. The strips can then be reconnected by connecting the clearly marked pins on either side of the cut lines. The included power supply is a simple black 12V power supply (such as a laptop power supply) that connects to the light bar power supply. The white power module has two wires, one with pins for the light bar and the other with an IR (infrared) sensor for the remote control. The included remote control has 44 blister-style buttons that are labeled and color-coded according to their function. There are also 6 programmable DIY buttons to create and save your favorite colors. The remote control comes with a battery. The kit is complete and ready to use when you take it out of the box. Fit and Finish: The light strip has a nice clean look and conforms to the surface you attach it to. The use of an adhesive backing allows for a variety of attachment styles and allows you to take advantage of the flexibility of this strip. The 5050 LEDs are very small but very bright on their own, but when encased in clear, slightly domed silicone they really emit light! I have attached a video demonstrating several colors and features of this strip. Conclusions: If you are looking for a very flat and flexible light strip with multiple color options, this is it. If I could change something about this set, I would extend the power cord on the side that plugs into the lighting power module. In our playroom I wanted to install lights on some of the podium style shelves we have and with the length of the included power cord that would mean the power supply would be hanging on the wall. It doesn't matter, but I'd always rather have a cord that's too long to coil than not long enough. I would also like to see the same strip made with a black backed circuit board for aesthetic reasons. Pros: Includes everything you need to start using it right away. 6 customizable DIY color presets. Choices and Display Modes Cons: Trimming and/or splicing may not be easy for everyone. The power cord can be longer to facilitate installation in different places.
