Despite all the criticisms of the strange smell, I didn't find it unpleasant, although not very much. However, the effect of the product is completely opposite to what was expected. I bought the set because my hair breaks easily and is dry. I needed something that would moisturize and strengthen and therefore stop some of my breakouts. The first thing that struck me when I received the shampoo was that the shampoo was very watery and bubbly. It almost looked like it had been faked. When I applied the product to my hair I was never able to get a decent lather despite using a large amount and shampooing twice. To achieve a deep condition with conditioner I used a large amount and spread it from roots to ends and left on for 5 minutes as usual. After washing off the product, my hair was anything but smooth and hydrated. It feels like I didn't use the conditioner at all. It was tangled and fell out in handfuls. Combing it was a chore in itself and I lost even more hair trying to do it. Now that my hair is dry, it's brittle and frizzy. It's in worse shape than it was when I was stuck with Dollar Store shampoo. I don't even dye, curl or style my hair. I can't imagine this product being made for these hair types.
