I have 3 different types of active/capacitive pens for my HP Envy x360 15-1xx series1. Refurbished Wacom Bamboo2. Capacitive stylus 3. Surface Certified Pen This review is for the Surface Certified Pen but I will give a general comparison to others, you can see my other reviews in the review of the other two products. My husband recently bought me a bamboo pen, it is an expensive pen and I lost it during our trip. So he bought me another Bamboo as a replacement, and this time it's a refurbished LOLT. Then I lost it back at home and couldn't find it. I felt so guilty that I told him not to buy me one just yet. Then I saw a list of capacitive pens (see my capacitive stylus review) and a certified Surface stylus. I want to try and not buy another Bamboo when my second Bamboo comes. The functionality between this pen and Bamboo is similar and both work well as expected. The diameter of this pen is a bit smaller than the Bamboo, I prefer the Bamboo size, I'm more comfortable with the way I hold the pen. Bamboo feels rubbery and this grip is smoother. The weight is almost the same, I can't tell if Bamboo is different with 3 different nibs while this pen has 2 nibs. They both have soft and hard tips. I prefer soft nibs for drawing less detail, I prefer hard nibs for writing and drawing details. There is no additional nib holder and nib replacement tool for this pen, but Bamboo comes with a holder that can hold 3 nibs and the holder doubles as a nib replacement tool. In this case, no further steps are required for my laptop to recognize it. I had to make some tweaks to Bamboo to ensure the protocol would work with my laptop. Bamboo has some crashes from time to time, but this one hasn't had any crashes yet. Both Bamboo and this pen do not support tilt for my laptop and unfortunately I could not find any information on whether my laptop supports tilt or not. I would like to find a tilt pen that improves my drawing experience. Luckily, for now, I'll be using my system more for basic drawing and crafts that don't require tilt capabilities yet. Overall, I'm happy with all three that I have. They have pros and cons, but it depends on your preferences. In terms of functionality, they all work as expected. Not because of the functionality, but because of the price I have to give Bamboo 4 instead of 5 stars. For a much lower price, this pen offers the same functionality as the Bamboo. As for the stylus, I like the flexibility of the stylus to be used on my sons and husband's touchscreen devices. If price isn't an issue, consider using a stylus designed specifically for your system. I use Bamboo because the HP pen is more expensive than Bamboo, but since this pen works just as well as Bamboo, I would like to buy it instead of Bamboo.
