I bought this vintage replica telephone as a decorative piece and found it just like the picture. It's solid metal construction, although not as authentic as it could be, the metal parts should be plastic (bakelite), including the cord. The phone works, but only as an extension, since it doesn't go into the digital network without "tone dialing", but I didn't buy it for that. In general I'm quite happy with it.
