Optional drive to replace a Dell laptop CD-ROM drive

It's fairly easy to get a second drive in a Dell laptop by removing the CD drive and installing the device in place of the CD drive. It plugs into a connector that powers and communicates with the CD drive, allowing you to install any 2.5" drive in place of the CD drive with very little modification. An old CD drive cover is used to create a slot into which the CD slot was inserted, but it is very easy to remove and install on a new device. It works with both regular drives and SSDs, so upgrading your boot device to boost your laptop's speed is fairly quick and relatively inexpensive.

Pros
  • Universal 9.5mm SATA-to-SATA optical drive bay, caddy adapter tray; Customer's optical drive bezel and ejector bracket/latch must be removed to reuse on cart to function properly!
Cons
  • Crumpled
