Bottom line it doesn't work with new HP laptop. I had to return for a refund. Judging by the reviews, it also works with other HP calculators. I bought two of these USB-C hubs hoping they would work with my new HP laptop (model 15-dy1xxx) and my wife's HP laptop which is in the mail right now. I spent an hour getting it working on my laptop (rebooting, plugging in at different times during boot, etc.) and I was only able to get the SD card reader and USB slots to work. Both HDMI ports were dead. Also, you can't charge an HP laptop through this hub. You must continue to use your original charging connector. Finally, the USB-C cable is too short to be really useful. Looking back at the photos, the seller doesn't hide the fact that the cable is very short, but it was still surprising how close the docking station needed to be to my laptop. I wasn't happy with that. I wish the cable was 2 or 3 times longer to be useful. Overall I wanted it to work and liked the price. But it only worked partially, and the cord was surprisingly short. Was the failure an accident or an isolated product defect? Hmm, maybe. Or a sign of poor quality? Possible. But after this hassle, I spend a little more and get an HP-branded USB-C dock to ensure compatibility. Whoever has HP rolls for this product. Much luck.
