New Favorite Sketchbook

Below is my review of the A5 version of this book. It's essentially a scaled down version of this book, so my thoughts remain the same. "I have a shelf full of sketchbooks of various quality papers that I have filled over the years. I think this book is my favorite so far. Mechanical pencils, ballpoint pens and micrometers produce smooth lines without affecting the quality of the paper. The binding is also excellent as the pages always lie flat no matter where you are in the book. The paper holds the graphite without much smearing. compared to many other books. I use. I don't get paper tears with the HB graphite mechanical pencil. For ballpoint pens, the paper offers the perfect balance between scratches and ink splatters. This allows for good opacity control without the frustration of not being able to draw a continuous line longer than 1 inch. For reference, I only use cheap Bic or Papermate pens. Micron and archival markers make subtle lines without tearing or wrinkling the paper. The paper also holds up well to water-based markers (no bleeding through, but few mixing options). As for the binding, as I said before, the pages always lie flat. The clasp has not loosened in the backpack and with normal use. I only tore a page or two, more my fault than the book's. In summary, this is an excellent book for pencil and ink drawing. This is my second A5 purchase and I bought an A4 version for my stay at home sketchbook. I highly recommend it."
