I have both the 69" Sabrent tripod (weighing 4lb 8.5oz) and this 62" tripod (weighing 3lb 2.9oz) so this tripod is substantial easier. The legs have two lever clips, making it very easy to extend the legs. The center column has a threaded cap at the bottom with a spring-loaded hook to add weights for stability. Remove the cap and you can remove and flip the center column to position the camera closer to the ground. The head pans very smoothly once you release the control knob. It has two more ball head control knobs. You can reposition the camera with some resistance by loosening the large knob and then loosening the smaller knob for smooth movement. A large screw handle controls the center column and holds it securely when tightened. There is a level bubble on the top of the foam covered leg, a horizontal bubble on the top of the part that holds the quick release plate, and a vertical bubble on the end of the handle that controls the quick release plate. The quick release plate is released by turning the handle, which opens the vise in which the plate sits. (I prefer the lever plate, which is easier but quick enough.) A new feature for me is the ability to extend your legs outward. You just pull out the piece at the top of the leg and then there are two solid rungs that the piece faces. By folding the center column, you can lower the camera lens directly to the ground. The legs have rubber caps that screw in to expose the spikes and unscrew to protect the floor. I don't think they will move towards you because you can put them on from either side. This tripod does not have a monopod with a foam grip. One of the three main legs has a foam grip but is not removable. The length of the center post to the head is a foot, and from the bottom of the head to the top of the quick release plate is about 4-1/8 inches. Overall, this is a solid tripod with a slick ball head that weighs just over 3 pounds (case not included) and has enough stability to work outdoors in light winds. Definitely a great tripod for indoor work. Comes with a nice case with central handles and shoulder strap with clip.
