First off, I'd like to say I'm not crunchy or "everything should be organic". Actually, I would describe myself as a skeptic of such products. When my sister sent me a link to them, I was definitely skeptical. I read reviews, googled soapberries and read a few blogs about it before deciding to risk $30 to save money on laundry detergent. I was amazed at that. Before using them, I used Tide. I washed all my laundry with Soapberries, went through all my clothes and found no difference in cleanliness from Tide. I will say that the only negative thing I noticed is that the soapberries don't smell, some very strong smells are still present after cleaning (like my husband's deodorant which has a very strong smell) but even then it was very weak. The actual clothes were really clean, albeit without stains. My sister adds essential oils to the wool drying balls and gives the clothes a light scent. I can try that in the future. I also think it will work if you want to use them along with a stain remover. But only because of the savings that I resold like this. I was looking for ways to cut our family budget, and laundry detergent eats up so much money. A $30 bag will easily last 2 years. As I said above, I did a lot of research on them and was surprised to find out that they are actually legal and even used in commercial products. The fact that they are all natural and hypoallergenic is not a must for me, but definitely a plus. I think if you use heavily perfumed detergent, fabric softener, dryer sheets, bleach, etc on every load, you might not like them. If you are less picky, like clean clothes and like to save money, this will be your best friend.
