. but maybe worth the price. The individual parts appear to be well made from good, lightweight materials and fit together well, making the overall device quite stiff and solid. The rubber pads to hold the laptop securely on the platform and desktop base work well. Stability is something else entirely. The good and bad news is that the device is lightweight. If your laptop is older (heavier) and depending on the angle you set the platform at, raising the stand more than 2.5 inches may cause you to "tip backward". This is especially true when using the native keyboard and trackpad instead of wireless input devices. I have the front edge of my 6 inches tall, I use a remote keyboard and mouse, and I have my old college dictionary on a pedestal to hold it. That's not bad IMO, just something to know. Finally, I doubt this thing will last very long if you crush it hard and pull it out like the first paragraph of the description suggests. You can. In fact, the stand comes with a small crescent wrench, presumably for loosening the nuts before adjusting the height and angle, and then retightening them once you've got it where you want it. Generally nothing fancy that can serve your purpose. not a bad price.
