Very quick to read thermometer

I heard about this on Reddit a few days ago and realized it was too much for the price to pass up a spare/rental thermometer I ordered one Worst case I would just send them back. I've been a happy ThermaPen user for almost a decade and recently bought a Mk4 because my wife turned to my original. The ThermoPro arrived this afternoon and I took a moment to check it out, install the battery and quickly test it with my current gear. I boiled a pot of water, dropped some ice and water into a cup, and ran some quick tests. All were read fairly quickly, I would say the bigger the delta the more time each took which was impressive to say the least. I did notice that the ThermoPro was about a degree higher on average, but felt like this could be calibrated. (Something I'm too lazy to do more than 1 degree) In terms of build quality the ThermoPro is decent, I see a lot of queues of ThermaPens connected back. It's clearly built for the price, but doesn't feel badly made. The only major issue I saw was that they chose to screw the battery cover directly into the plastic case, which is probably the weakest link in the whole thing. Choosing a red segmented display on a black background strikes a good balance between legibility and not having a backlit display. Without going into the whole AvE I'll just say that for the money I'm not complaining, I definitely paid more for a lot worse. Overall I'm very impressed, I might be a bit more indecisive when competing in BBQ competitions or cooking in a restaurant, but as a home player I've already recommended it to two friends and will keep it to myself. I think for the money this is just a home run and feel free to give it 5 stars.
