After trying many different types of natural deodorants, I was looking for one that didn't give me a rash, hives or other issues due to the ingredients used. skeptical. Most natural deodorants use baking soda, which can cause skin irritation and armpit rashes in some people, while most commercial deodorants you can buy at the store contain chemicals that I'm allergic to. I'm used to using cornstarch powder almost every day to avoid chafing and I don't notice a strong BO smell in the colder months of the year (I wash regularly). Spring and summer are tough. I was skeptical because of the price, twice the price of others I've tried, it didn't work but I figured if there was no baking soda and it worked then it was worth it. I had a neutral scent (because if it didn't work my husband would inherit a different deodorant) and I didn't want it to smell like sunscreen. The other thing is that I wanted to try it for a good month (which I'm happy about because we've had a few weeks of 80 degree sunny weather for the Pacific Northwest so far). The first thing I found was the smell was very good. I like lavender because it's not too floral or perfumed. It's nice and neutral and my husband is ready to wear it and this scent is blended with a nice peppermint scent making it a lovely crisp clean scent. I then read the instructions (something I found on various natural products) and then put it on. What shocked me was the tingling, the deodorant never tingled. It wasn't irreversible, but it was worrying. I've used mint-based shampoos, conditioners, and soaps, and they didn't tingle any more than my face or scalp, so my armpits were a bit uncomfortable at first. Realizing that it wouldn't irritate my skin, I thought it was pretty nice. Next I had to see how long it would last if I had to reapply throughout the day. Even on our warmest day of gardening, I didn't have to reapply. Despite being a deodorant and still making you sweat, it kept my hands dry and there was no bad smell at all. It lasted all day without reapplication. Then my husband decided he wanted his own wand and we ordered a second one. He also found the tingling in his armpits a bit strange. not uncomfortable, but different. He himself has not had to reapply it in all the days of use. He also likes the smell of Black Rogue. Now I recommend following the instructions, this is not just rubbing under the arms, there are steps. And when they say it's not necessary to use more for what you want to do, they mean it. Not only will it smear and make a mess, but it'll also give you a strong minty tingle. It washes off the skin easily, but not so easily from the clothes. My final opinion: This deodorant is good for people who are looking for a natural deodorant without baking soda. It's good for my skin allergies (and I have very sensitive skin) but be careful if you're allergic to perfumes and strong scents as the stick is very aromatic.
