I've read other reviews of people having trouble firing this thing. I haven't had this problem and I have a top of the line Bose audio system in my car with a standard amp pushing the power through this thing and I usually listen to my music at 50 volume (my system maxes out at 65) I guess folks Those who are having issues with it are probably full scrolling boost or something. I mean gain basically increases or decreases the audio signal going through the converter. So if you're listening to music at high volume, you already have a strong signal going through this thing. If you then maximize the converter's gain, you increase the signal power even more, and more power = more heat. Leave the profit alone on this thing. Instead, amplify the signal with an amplifier. It can withstand the heat a lot better than this thing.
