No diamond pattern, solid fins that should be better for cooling but if you're looking for that pattern you won't get it. Gasket surface is not smooth, 8mm circles have been recessed on one side, 8mm circles have been raised on the other side, had to be sanded to make the raised side flat. The front and rear lip seals could also have been better, the rear was not round, the front had a narrow part at the lip. The Fel-Pro seal for engines in this series is one piece and you cannot use any additional sealant except near the corners. The screws that came with the item were packaged in a loose box and the screws bounced around in the packaging, no scratches luckily. The casting is not 1 piece, you can see where it is sewn in, of course I hope that it doesn't tear, otherwise it will cost me my engine. I installed the 4 corners, the side screws don't grab, they could easily be 1/4" longer than what was included, had to push up with one hand even holding the 4 corners to get a grip to bring and then followed the standard tightening order and finished front to back on each side to make sure they all have the same torque I took it for a test I will check for leaks at least nothing comes out.
