We have an old Macbook that is being used as a server. It's about 12 hours a day. Our old plastic protector broke so we replaced it with this plastic protector to keep the car running fine. On the plus side, unlike other plastic protectors, this one is VERY easy to fit. It's also thicker than others that are so thin they rip right out of the box. So it's a good protection when you take your Macbook out of the house. But our Macbook got so hot when it was on that we burned our fingers touching the top back of the aluminum - even with the external fan facing down. Cars just inches away. As soon as we removed the protective film, the laptop's temperature dropped significantly. Has the meaning. Aluminum is a heat conductor, but plastic is. Going forward, we'll only put it on a laptop if we need to take it out of the house, which is almost never the case.
