This is actually well built. I bought this to cut up sweet potatoes for deep frying. It takes a little muscle power to cut a sweet potato because it's very dense. I cut a regular potato just to see the difference and she cut it easily. I've never worried about it breaking or bending under the force required to slice a sweet potato. For the larger sweet potato, I actually put it on the ground and stepped on it to cut it because I couldn't with my hand. Strength. I would like a smaller attachment for finely slicing French fries. The blades appear to be easily interchangeable, but I haven't checked to see if there's a smaller set of fries the size of McDonald's fries. Fries size 1/2 not my choice. Size 1/4 or 3/8 would be better IMHO.
