Now I have bought 2 sets of their square containers. Both these and the square versions seal very well. I have had no problems with these seals. I had 2 problems with round containers. First, the 2.1 liter size collapsed on 3 sides when I was using it to store nuts. It didn't collapse right away, but the next morning I checked and it was flat all over. In fact, it was in the shape of an hourglass. The tightness is retained - this is a big plus. I used the same pressure as I used to clean the square containers, but it was too much for the round ones. I emptied and cleaned it and put it aside. I still use it but download it a lot less. So far it has held its shape. Second, one of the 2.1 qt's lid latches broke after 3 or 4 uses. Let me stress that this does not cause any problems with the sealing of the container. The bars are redundant and I'm really not sure why they're part of the design. I started not even using latches on my containers. Another note: The pump used with round containers is different from the pump used with square containers. I don't know if this is a 'newer design' so needs a separate hand pump or not but I have 2 of these now. They are not interchangeable. This is minor as both work well, but it would be nice not to use different pumps. They're good, but square containers are better for my needs.
