Doesn't apply as easily as described

I get it. These are never "easy" to apply. Many things need to be prepared beforehand. You must follow instructions to a T. We took time with it and followed the directions. Yet, the finished look wasn't to our standards. We have a tall glass window on our porch next to our front door. We've never covered it in the years we've lived here, but one day my wife and I decided to try it. We have many neighbor kids who will peak in, which doesn't bother us, but it got us thinking about privacy a bit. So we ordered this to be cut to size. The instructions tell you to measure with 2mm extra material. We did that. But when we slowly applied it, it made it difficult because it couldn't go on evenly as we flattened it out to the bottom. It just looked a bit sloppy and made us second guess ourselves midway through, which is never a good thing when applying this material. It's a bit of a one-shot application. Sure, you may be able to peel it back right after using it, but once it begins to settle, you won't be able to peel it off nicely.Unfortunately, we didn't take any pictures because we took them down on a whim. We had it installed for about a week. It didn't look awful, but the more we paid attention to it, the more we didn't like it. We want to try another option. This option may work for a part of the house that isn't constantly seen. But for the front porch, it just wasn't up to our standards in the way it looked.

Pros
  • Worked great for our bathroom windows
Cons
  • The film may not adequately block UV rays, leading to sun damage to furniture and other items inside the room
