Thin and light - my new review

This Neofyte display is very thin and light. I was expecting it to be heavier but was pleasantly surprised when I took it out of the box. I don't think anyone needs extra weight in a backpack. This screen is about the same weight as my iPhone Pro Max, so it should weigh less than 1 pound. It has 2 USB-C ports, a mini HDMI port and a headphone jack. If you're using HDMI to connect to your display, be sure to keep the included HDMI-to-HDMI mini cable nearby. I tested the display with a 16-inch MacBook Pro and a 12.9-inch iPad Pro, so I used a USB-C to USB-C cable. I really like that I can power the display via USB-C. This worked on both my Mac and iPad. The display comes with its own power supply in case you need power when using HDMI or for other reasons. The default screen brightness is 100%. It is bright and can be reduced at will. Colors were good but nothing compared to the high quality screens on my two Apple devices. Colors are much more vibrant on Mac and iPad screens. But I'm planning on using this display primarily for work, so probably have a web browser or productivity app open on it, not images, so color saturation and precision aren't needed. The colors on the display look good, but it has its limitations, which makes it worth it for the price. I put music on it and watched some videos. Both played well. The speakers on the display are not that good. Even at maximum volume, the sound is very quiet and the sound is a bit tinny. On my laptop with more than 60% volume, the sound gets too loud. At 100% on the display, this equated to about 20% on my laptop. I mainly use my iPad Pro when I need to connect a second display to my MacBook. This Neofyte display is slightly larger and has a 16x9 format, which is better for some applications. I tried connecting my iPad and this display to my MacBook at the same time and I managed to use both as external displays giving me a triple monitor setup. This can come in handy when I need to work remotely for a few days and want to work more efficiently. Overall I think this is a great display at a competitive price. The fact that it's thin, light, and powered via USB-C are all big pluses for me. If you travel frequently and need a second display, this is a great option.

Pros
  • NEOPHYTE
Cons
  • The monitor backlight is too bright.
