These are really great speakers. They work as advertised. I will say that they definitely benefit from a break. It only really gets going out of the box and the highs bite. However, after a bit of playing in, they soften up and sound great. Please remember that these are small speakers. They sound great being small as they are. They are really clear and detailed. You would also benefit from adding a subwoofer to your system. The only negative comment I can give them is that the phono stage is not very good. This will help get you started if you are just starting out but want to upgrade to a separate phono stage really quickly. At the same time, absolutely no drone can be heard when playing records at normal listening volume. The phono stage just sounds flat. There is no depth. No division. I know these speakers can sound better because they sound great when paired with a DAC. Don't let that stop you from buying these great speakers. They really do sound fantastic when paired with a good source and subwoofer. I definitely recommend these speakers. Especially for its price under $500. TO UPDATE ------------------------------------------------- ----------------------- After about 50 hours of listening with these speakers. Decided to correct my review. I find her wonderful. I still stand by my opinion on the lack of a phono stage. I recommend adding a separate phono stage like Schiit Mani. This is a fantastic phono stage. I will write a separate review on this product page. Now back to the speakers. Simply great low-power speakers. They really shine at mid and high frequencies. Treble forward and alive. The mids are well balanced and could be a bit fuller. The speakers are not to blame. They work as advertised. They are perfectly complemented by the subwoofer R-100sw. The onboard amplifier and DAC deliver a very clean, clear signal that helps define instruments and soundstage. I can really feel the singer in front of the guitar, with bass and drums in the background, with a slight hint of violin and piano. A great sounding speaker set. Easy to set up for beginners. Deliver sweet live sound that leaves you wanting more, especially when you add a subwoofer. You won't regret buying this set of active speakers. Ps: It goes without saying that Bluetooth listening is not ideal. Not just these speakers. I wouldn't recommend ever listening over bluetooth.
