Review on 🚲 Nantucket Children's Surfside Wire Bicycle Basket by Michael Bazen

Decent but not perfect

I bought a kids surf basket from Nantucket Bicycle Basket Co. because I don't need a rattan or plastic basket because they break and trap dirt on the bottom. This basket cost about $20 which is more than I was willing to pay but in some photos the pink appeared to be purple and matched the Strider bike pictured. Not so! The pink is bright and was an obvious mismatch. I was thinking of ordering it in black except the metal fasteners do NOT fit the Strider model we have: Strider - 14x Sport Wheel - Pedal Conversion Kit sold separately. The latches are about 3 inches from the handlebars. I also noticed on arrival of this basket that it tilts inward toward the handlebars of the bike, causing the dolls to fall out. I also had a faint suspicion that a basket that could be picked up would actually be picked up and constantly appropriated by the toddler. All of this knowledge led me to return the basket and after searching Revane I couldn't find anything that would work. I went to my local Trek store and they helped me order the Elektra baby basket (pictured). It's perfect! This is a coated metal honeycomb pattern that looks cute, allows the leaves my kid picked up during their trip to dry and fall out on their own, easy to wipe clean, has leather straps with metal buckles that fit snugly on the handlebars, and best of all Above all, there is a stabilizing bracket on the back of the basket that presses against the stem, keeping the basket horizontal and stable. It looks like a permanent fixture and doesn't distract my little one at all. I couldn't find ANYTHING on Revain that would compare to this basket. I paid about $33 for a new basket which I was wondering about but I have to say when we're done with a bike this size I'm sure it can be used again. To me it costs a little more than the plastic rattans that end up in a landfill every year or two.
