You can taste the difference (no plastic taste). We use them for cycling, ship them with our son's lunch (his school requires clear containers) and keep one in the car for drinking on the go! We probably have 8-10 of these bottles. I picked up a great idea and bought a set of new bottles for each of us every Christmas. Puristic bottles last for years without a weird aftertaste. I love the nipple pictured on this bottle - they have a different cap that is always open so if it falls over it will leak.
