I actually like these lanterns a lot more than I thought I would. This is my first experience with battery operated candles and they look great in my decorative garden lights. I like how easy it is to use the remote to turn it on and off, although I have to point the remote at each candle separately. I currently use three candles and this requires three remote on/off buttons, one for each candle; the mess is more convenient than lighting and extinguishing the flame with wax candles. I wasn't sure what to think of the shimmer for fear it might be too strong or look fake, but it looks subtle and natural. I will say that six candles have some tone variation. This isn't an issue for my intended use, but should be considered if you need a consistent tone for your chosen use/display. I didn't use the timer function.
