In the past, when I was starting out, I bought a tear-away pad from a Pello brand stud at a fabric store. I immediately cut it into appropriately sized squares so it would be easy to start my projects when I was done. When I ran out of water, I calculated how much I needed and how much it would cost. Unfortunately, the store had everything back then, so I went online to find it at a cheaper price. Instead I found this for less money than buying a bolt and cutting it myself and more sheets. This product is great because it saves a lot of time and some money. The thickness is the same as the pellon brand, so if you are used to it, this will work great. If I said there was anything wrong with that, it would be the size. For some odd reason 8 inches isn't enough for the top and bottom of the hoop, 8x9 would be ideal although I'm not sure if the machine cutting them into 8x9 pieces can be modified. Don't get me wrong, it still works but doesn't give you too much extra to put it on and if it's not even top and bottom you might not even have enough extra to put it on at all. You get used to the measurement, so it was just a problem for me at first. If you know you're going to be doing a lot of embroidery, be sure to get this for your 4x4 frame. This will not work in a 5x7 frame as the frame dimensions do not mean the size of the frame, but rather the area in the hoop that can be stitched. Hope it helps, good luck sewing.
