That saves a lot of manual work
I have a fish pond with a small waterfall. The water tank has a filter connected to a pump, from which water flows onto the rocks. There is a filter medium, but larger. If I don't add a layer of this stuff my pond will get dirty. This material catches dirt and debris and keeps my pond crystal clear!
